  • Amanda Petrak - Public Relations

    Amanda Petrak is the senior director of marketing and communications for Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.  She joined the university in April of 2013, after spending 16 years working for multiple teams in National Basketball Association. At Case, Amanda is responsible for the overall promotion of the medical school both internally and externally. Before that, she spent 13 years as the communications director for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Amanda graduated from St. Bonaventure University where she majored in journalism/mass communication and played basketball. She has been a member of WISE since 2007. 

  • Brooke Cuevas - Scholarship

    Brooke Cuevas, Director of Marketing for the Wolstein Center at Cleveland State University, has ten years of experience within the field of sports marketing and corporate sponsorship sales for professional sports teams, event entertainment and tradeshows.

    Since 2006 Cuevas has worked for Global Spectrum, a facilities management company based in Philadelphia, PA and a subsidiary of Comcast Spectacor. With Global Spectrum, her main focus has been to provide re-branding strategies, restructure customer service initiatives, realign departmental finances as it relates to media buying and marketing new ticketing systems for sports teams, banquet facilities and arenas. By providing a more streamlined approached to clients, Cuevas has helped drive increase profitability and attendance records for the accounts/clients Global Spectrum services.

    Her career has allowed her to work with outstanding organizations throughout Northeast Ohio and beyond including; Cleveland State University, NCAA, The Horizon League, Lake Erie Crushers, Cleveland Gladiators, Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, Wells Fargo Center (Philadelphia), Windsor Family Credit Union Center and the Windsor Spitfires (Ontario, Canada).

    Brooke Cuevas attended the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland for her Masters in Business Administration in 2006 while working to promote Weatherhead’s MBA program across the United States and internationally. Before going back to school for her Masters, she started her career working in Arena Public Relations for the Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena. She completed her undergraduate degree at John Carroll University with a BA in Communications.

    Brooke lives in Avon Lake and enjoys travelling and training for sprint triathlons. She recently completed a mission trip to Culebra, Puerto Rico where she and a team helped build homes, tile floors, run plumbing and electrical work for families on the island.

  • Jackie Simpson - Treasurer

    IMG Worldwide, Inc.

    Since 1986, Jackie Simpson has been a Vice President Legal for IMG Worldwide, Inc. the sports, media and entertainment organization.  She currently specializes in tennis, sports academies and events, fashion, models and photography.  She is one of the founders of the Cleveland chapter of WISE.

  • Kate Zelasko - Golf Outting Chair

    Kate Zelasko is currently the director of media relations for FOX Sports Ohio and SportsTime Ohio. In this role, she serves as the primary contact for all internal and external communications for the networks’ territories including local and national media, talent and public relations, affiliate issues, viewer correspondence and all other media-related duties. She also oversees all FOX Sports Ohio, SportsTime Ohio and FOX Sports Ohio Girls social media initiatives. Prior to joining FOX Sports, Kate was the editor of Cleveland Business Connects Magazine, the premier monthly corporate networking and events magazine in Northeast Ohio. Kate also spent four years with the Cleveland Indians in communications, creative services, and marketing. She received her master’s degree from The Ohio State University in journalism and communication and her bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami where she majored in public relations and music.

  • Katrina Marshall - Vice President

    American Liver Foundation

    Katrina Marshall is the Director of Special Events for the American Liver Foundation. Previously she was the Special Events and Communications Coordinator at the Cleveland Foodbank where she was responsible for planning and executing the organization’s two large fundraisers: Market Under Glass andTaste of the Browns. Katrina also plans several smaller events, manages the organization’s social media accounts and web content updates, and assists with media relations and other communications needs. In addition she has her own ”foodie” blog called Bite Buff.

  • Laura Gorman - Programming

    Laura Gorman joined WISE Cleveland in 2011 and has been a member of the WISE Cleveland Luncheon committee since 2012.  In 2013, Laura joined the board of WISE and co-chairs the programming committee with Sarah Tancredi.  She is looking forward to increasing the quality of WISE Cleveland programming while attracting new members to the group. 

    Laura brings a fair amount of marketing, graphics and event experience to WISE from the 4 years at her current position as the Planning Resources Facilitator at 212 Capital Group.  Prior to 212, Laura worked as the Press/Industry Ticketing Manager in 2004 and as the Assistant Festival Manager in 2005 at the Sarasota Film Festival and as the PR and Marketing Coordinator at Westwater Construction from 2005-2006.  She holds a bachelors in Film with a minor in Journalism from the University of Iowa

     

     

  • Meredith Scerba - WISE Cleveland President

    Meredith A. Scerba is the VP of Event Management for the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission (GCSC). Meredith oversees the planning, budgeting and operations of all GCSC events. In addition, she is responsible for managing and recruiting for both the volunteer and internship programs. 
     
    Meredith began her career with the Cleveland Cavaliers/Gund Arena Company as the Group Events Coordinator. Her responsibilities included developing, planning and executing all events conducted by the Group Sales Department with the overall goal of increasing ticket sales for the NBA Cavaliers, WNBA Rockers and Gund Arena Family Shows. These events included Cheerleading Competitions, Cavalier Girl’s Dance Clinics, Career Fairs, DECA Days, Globetrotter Clinics, Halftimes and more. While in this position, Meredith was recognized by the NBA League office for “best practices” by personally creating organizational documents used by the Cavaliers Group Sales Department to better manage clients. In 2004, she played a vital part in the success of the Cavaliers Group Sales Department when setting the new NBA record in sales with a new mark of 3.2 million in Groups tickets.
     
    Meredith’s extracurricular positions include serving as a board member of WISE Cleveland and America SCORES Cleveland in addition to being an active member of ISES (International Special Events Society) Cleveland Chapter. Special honors include being honored in 2008 as one Crain’s Cleveland Business Magazines’ Twenty in their Twenties recipients and chosen to be apart of the 2009 Bridge Builders Flagship program.
     
    Graduate from the University of Findlay, located in Findlay Ohio with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Business Management. Meredith attended the university on a swimming scholarship, where she was an Academic All-American and team captain her junior and senior years. 
     
    Meredith resides in Westlake, OH with her husband Matt, an Environmental Health and Safety Director for Bendix Brakes in Elyria.
  • Michelle Hill - Secretary and WISE Within Chair

    Michelle Hill is the Communications & Training Manager for the North American Society for Trenchless Technology, a not-for-profit education society representing the underground construction industry. Previously she was the Conference Manager at Benjamin Media, Inc. and the Catering Manager at Great Lakes Brewing Company. Complementing her busy career, Michelle enjoys volunteering her time helping Make a Wish, the American Heart Association, Ohio Pug Rescue, the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland and the Cleveland Sight Center. Michelle received her B.S. in Communications from Ohio University where she planned her very first special event — a comedy night with Jay Leno. 

     

     

  • Michelle Qualls - Membership and Sponsorship

    Michelle Qualls is a senior account executive for FOX Sports Ohio and has held that position for 6 years. She specializes in sports television sponsorships for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Columbus Blue Jackets & Cincinnati Reds. Prior to being at FOX Sports Ohio, she was in the radio industry from 1998-2006 where she sold media for the Howard Stern Show on WNCX, Browns Radio Network on legendary rock station WMMS and Magic 105.7. Michelle is a graduate of John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio where she majored in Communications with a concentration in TV production.

  • Paula Grooms - Past-President and Founder of Cleveland Chapter

    Ingenuity Festival of Art + Technology

    Paula Grooms is a respected marketing expert and experienced manager of multi-functional teams. As a former Senior Vice President with the sports marketing firm IMG, Paula has produced custom marketing programs for both corporate and non-profit clients – from sports events and celebrities to real estate development and city-wide events. Ms. Grooms is now the Executive Director of the Ingenuity Festival of Art + Technology.

  • Sarah Tancredi - Programming

    Sarah (Serfass) Tancredi is currently the Assistant Director for Young Alumni & Leadership Annual Giving at Oberlin College. She specializes in creating meaningful campaigns that raise awareness and financial support for the institution. Prior to her role at Oberlin, Sarah served as the Community Events Manager for The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio where she coordinated the Annual Walk, Rock & Run, as well as other high profile events. She joined WISE Cleveland in the fall of 2012 and is currently serving as co-chair of the program committee.
